Chanel's 24th Birthday Celebration
2.7.04

Chanel's Birthday was a spectacular success with every major Star Wars club in the Bay Area represented along with Chanel's mother, Eva Vanecek, and friends gathered to celebrate the life of a beloved hero. Much thanks goes out to Matt Tolosa and Robert Lee (JedHed1 and Harlock 415 respectively) for getting the Marriott for the great lunch. This was a wonderful buffet that would make a Hutt Clan full and cry since it was so good! Another extended thanks goes to Oahu Fan Force's CR Helene (aka Mac-Nut) who sent so many yummy treats from the lovely islands of Hawaii.

We at San Francsico Fan Force would also like to thank all the clubs that were represented in attendance which include:
The Sacramento Valley Rogue Force (SV's Fan Force Chapter)
The 501st Central Garrison
The 501st Golden Gate Garrison
The Rebel Legion Endor Base
The East Bay Star Wars Club
The South Bay Star Wars Club
The Black Fleet Star Pirates Guild
The Head of Fanime

A personal thanks to two Rogues who had the CR's/Rogue One's wing at different times of the day to honor one of our own (Four and Eleven, thanks!).

Last and very much NOT least, our honored guest: Lucasfilm's very own fan event coordinator and a editor of the Official Star War's Fan Clubs magazine (Bantha Tracks) Mary Franklin was in attendance to celebrate with us!

After the lunch and idle conversations had died down, all the clubs switched gears to openly discuss plans for and upcoming Star Wars Unity Event that will be hosted by SFFF for WonderCon weekend 2004 (April 30th-May 2nd). With relative ease in diplomatic discussion, many ideas and details were settled in orderly fashion with all clubs putting in their two credits to establish a working foundation and the makings of what could be an amazing event. Momentum was built by the collective energies that had brought all of these forces together as we honored our beloved Chanel this day with the people she loved.

After the birthday lunch and grand discussion of SW Unity for WonderCon, some had left for home or business, while some had stayed adjourning to the Metreon to hangout while waiting for the Chinese New Years Parade to begin (at 5:30pm). Mary Franklin had returned to meet up with SFFF and the SVRF chapters to check out the parade by that time in which we were very much honored. After the endless stream of colorful dragons, lion dancers, and monkey floats the groups ended the day at Mel's Drive In (A George Lucas inspired franchise btw) in which a good meal and even better conversation was had by all. With the exception of the gratuity fiasco at the end (Note: Never eat at Mel's with more than 5 people... 20% mandatory tip!). The day ended splendidly and very much on a high note of Star Wars unity.
